Why does facial hair come in thicker if shaved more often?

Why?

Why does facial hair come in thicker if shaved more often?

It doesn't. That's a myth. If hair came in thicker by shaving, then all men would look like apes. Or they'd look like ZZ Top, and women would look like apes with all the hair on their legs.

UPDATE:

I'm 100% positive it is a myth...:

First, the follicles do not get thicker by shaving; they get thicker by hormones, drugs, chemicals, etc. A persons genetics also determine the thickness of hair, which would explain why certain cultures have thinner or less hair than others.

Back to shaving:

The follicles are too far beneath the surface to be affected by shaving. The proliferative zone (hair matrix) that forms hair is at the very bottom of the hair bulb within the hair follicle. You would have to practically do a skin graft on your face in order to get down to that level -- and doing that is still not going to make hair grow in thicker; it'll have the opposite effect.

There are three stages of the hair growth cycle:

Anagen

Catagen

Telogen

The anagen stage can last for years. A person who never shaves would have a full adolescent beard well into their 20's and possibly 30's. Then the catagen %26amp; telogen phase serve to basically kill and remove the old hair. If they were to shave before that point, their beard WOULD grow in thicker. It's not the result of shaving, but because they got rid of their adolescent beard and are now allowing their matured hair follicles to finally grow mature hair.

How about some support for my claim?:

Just part of life...same with the hair on your head...

Why does facial hair come in thicker if shaved more often?

It a body self defense mechanism. And hormones ;)

Why does facial hair come in thicker if shaved more often?

The hair follicle, which is the root and housing, gets wider as the hair does.

The reason hair gets thicker is that the shaft of the hair is wider at the base than the top. Basically, this makes the top end wider after cutting, meaning the hair merely gets thicker every time it's cut until it reaches a mature thickness.

It's the same thing for girls... especially in the pubic area... but if you wax it comes back thinner... so maybe you should wax your face... it would hurt but think about all the girls that wax there vajj because you stupid boys are so picky.

Why does facial hair come in thicker if shaved more often?

You're cutting your hairs at the bases which are thicker to support the hair as it grows longer. Thusly, when the hair grows out next time, the base has grown out to become the tip. The new base that forms must be wider still to accomodate the support.

The more you shave the stronger the hair follicles get ,there for it grows thicker and longer faster ,suggest waxing as this last s very much longer and do sent increase hair growth . hope this is helpful to u cheers
